The Silent Goldens gives a rare and raw look a family’s first conversations about a suicide, breaking the 30 years of silence that followed the death.  The story exposes the unique grief millions of survivors of suicide loss face, exacerbated by a destructive silence that typically descends in the aftermath.

Film has always been a compelling way to broach difficult subjects and normalize public discussion. My documentary’s intention is to foster a better understanding of the terrible human experience of surviving a suicide loss.  It’s a cautionary tale about the damage silence can do to loss survivors while showing the healing power of conversation.

The project is officially in post-production!  I am deeply immersed in the rough-cut of the story and concurrently working to raise the funds to get the edit team going to make it look and sound like the film I envision.

Donations by those have been touched by suicide has been an incredibly meaningful part of this project and the memorial credits offered in honor of their loved ones will be an important part of the film’s message that silence after suicide is an widespread and devastating problem for millions and conversations around that need to be opened. Statistics show that over 100 people are affected somehow by every suicide.

Each donation, whether a memorial or in general support of the film, is a voice added to the mission of breaking down the stigma around suicide and help those suffering in silence to break theirs. Conversation truly helps heal.

Please note:  Your donation is tax-deductible! The Silent Goldens is a fiscally sponsored project of the International Documentary Association (IDA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The value of goods and services offered is noted under each donation level. If you would like to deduct the entire donation decline the reward at checkout.

This is a particularly difficult time to fundraise given the many challenges our country is facing right now, but the mental health crisis that is one of them and makes finishing this film all the more urgent.  Please help me help us all.

All donors will receive quarterly production updates the memorial and credit lists will also live on thesilentgoldens.com.
